Holy Monastery Hozeva

One of the earliest monasteries of the Holy Land, built close to the Jericho to Jerusalem route. It received special attraction during the abbacy of Saint George the Hozebite but was soon destroyed by the Persians. This place is linked with the Prophet Elijah and the Joachim the Father of most Holy Theotokos. Tradition says that here hid the Prophet when he was chased by Jezebel (his cave still exists). Also it is said the here prayed the father of the Theotokos to be blessed with a child.
