Near Jericho, on a rocky mountain the Holy Monastery of Sarandarion is built in an impressive way by including caves in its construction. According to Tradition here the Lord took refuge after His baptism, fasting and praying for forty days (Saranda in Greek means forty) and in the end He was tempted by the Demon. Inside the Catholicon is the rock on which Christ prayed.
